Every breath we take

"When you own your breath nobody can steal your peace."

- Unknown

Breathing is our Life Force. It's the #1 tool in our survival kit. How often do we really pay attention to our breath, though? It's the one action we do both voluntarily and involuntarily. We breathe instinctively while awake and asleep. We also control our breath while exercising or meditating. There are so many benefits to observing and regulating our breath, yet it is something most of us take for granted. And it's free! Breathwork guru Wim Hof encourages us to get high off our own supply in order to manage stress and anxiety.

Proper breathing helps us maintain our mental and physical health. There are countless breathing exercises that help us manage our emotions when tensions are high or we feel like we are losing control. Having the awareness to take a few deep breaths can be a quick triage when we feel like our world is caving in on us. It really boils down to being able to control our breathing.

After learning more from Wim Hof about the power of breathing techniques I decided to do a deeper dive. I learned about SOMA Breath and how it incorporates ancient breathing techniques and modern technology to help connect us with our Source. I refer to it as meditation on steroids, although this experience is chemical-free, except for the naturally occuring feel-good hormones in our body. I experienced the 21-Day Awakening Journey through SOMA Breath in June of 2020 and it was well worth the investment. Talk about getting high off your own supply! I experienced pure Bliss by simply controlling my breath.

The best part of my experience was the Love I felt while performing intermittent hypoxic training (IHT). I am able to peel away any remaining trauma or negative emotions swirling around inside me and simply let go. Professional athletes also use IHT to improve their performance and endurance. I now understand how breathing can be vital in helping us improve our mental and physical health. It's the one self-care tool we all have available to us and we don't have to buy any memberships or supplements to experience the benefits. We simply breathe.

More Wellness!
